At Breathe Tanzania Safaris, our safari guides are the heart and soul of every journey — passionate local experts who were born and raised in this land, speaking its languages, knowing its rhythms, and carrying its stories in their blood. Each guide is professionally trained, deeply experienced, and personally handpicked for their ability to turn a simple game drive into an unforgettable adventure. Whether they’re quietly pointing out a leopard hidden in the acacia trees of the Serengeti or sharing ancient Maasai legends around a campfire in Tarangire, they bring Tanzania alive in the most authentic way. With patience, warmth, and genuine love for their country, our guides don’t just show you wildlife — they help you feel it, understand it, and fall in love with it. They are the reason our guests leave not only with incredible photos, but with lifelong memories and a deeper connection to the spirit of Tanzania.
Said Hillary Kambelenje, a native of Masasi, was born in Bukoba and raised in Biharamulo in the Kagera Region of northwestern Tanzania. He comes from a diverse cultural background: his mother is from the Hangaza tribe of Western Tanzania, and his father is from the Yao tribe of southern Tanzania. He is married and the father of two children, Samir and Suraya.
Said’s professional path was shaped by an early visit to Arusha National Park, an experience that solidified his commitment to wildlife and conservation. Determined to pursue a career in guiding, he enrolled at Mount Meru Wildlife College in 1998, where he completed formal training in wildlife management and safari operations. Upon graduation, he worked as a freelance, fully certified English-speaking safari guide and driver before securing a permanent position with a reputable safari company in Arusha.
Today, Said continues to work actively in the field as a professional safari guide and driver while also serving as the founder and owner of Breathe Tanzania Safaris, a locally operated tour company based in Tanzania.
